Out of my love for David Bowie (and the Labyrinth), I chose to do a pencil portrait of him as Jareth the Goblin King for my final. Using the grid technique required for the project, I focused heavily on detail and value. The final piece is a showstopper – literally, he stops you with his eyes and beckons you to the Labyrinth. If only!

This piece won Best of in the Foundations category for the school’s gallery show in 2008.
